Barracudas,

We look forward to our 1st A-Meet of the season against Country Glen (CG) at our HOME pool.  Please be at the Bethesda pool by 7:30am. See below for important details.

Who is swimming?  Coach Malka will send out a lineup of who qualifies to swim this Saturday.  Swimming at A meets is highly prized, so if you confirmed but later find that you (your swimmer) can’t attend, please notify Coach Malka ((240) 461-1768 or [email protected]) immediately so that we can give another swimmer the opportunity to swim at the meet.

Location: Bethesda Pool: 6300 Little Falls Pkwy, Bethesda, MD 20816. Driving directions.

Parking: Please use the parking lot adjacent to the pool. Overflow parking is located @ Little Falls Pkwy and Arlington Road.

BE Team Seating Area: Our team will sit in the grassy area closest to the diving boards and slides. The visiting team will sit in the portion of the grassy area along the fence closest to the Crescent Trail (+ the bleachers), so please don’t sit in that area. There is little shade, so bring tents.

What to bring to the meet: See here

Programs: We will email programs to you Friday night to circulate to your team. We will have programs at the meet to give to officials & reps but not for others, so please print out a hard copy of the program if you want one at the meet.  We will try to have a running display of the meet via Meet Mobile.

Food: Our concession stand will sell food and drinks at the meet.

We look forward to seeing you Saturday. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Malka or any Team Rep.

Time Trials 2019
Bethesda Outdoor Pool
Start: 7:30 AM
Warm-up: 7:45 AM
End: 12:00 PM

What are Time Trials? Time Trials is a "scrimmage" swim meet (against ourselves) that allows kids to get their first official time of the new summer season in each event that they want to swim.

What is the purpose of Time Trials?

1. It allows the coaches to determine the first Saturday "A" meet lineup. Lots of things change over the summer (e.g., kids grow, start (or stop) winter swimming, age up into longer events, etc.), so last year's times don't always tell you how fast a kid will be this year. And, of course, if a child is new to swim team or is swimming a 50 instead of a 25, you don't have times for him or her at all.

2. It gives the swimmer a starting time that s/he can work to improve over the season.

3. It gives kids who are new to swimming (and those who may have forgotten over the winter) the experience of swimming in a meet. New swimmers learn how to report to the Clerk of Course, how to line up for their events, what a starting machine sounds like, and what it's like to race.

Time Trials also are great for parents, giving them a chance to learn (or remember) what they need to do at meets. It lets them brush off their rusty timing skills or figure out where the team's coffee pot went over the winter. New meet managers and team reps get a practice run, hopefully making the first dual meet go more smoothly. Also, Time Trials lets you see all your summer friends again and catch up on what they and their families have been up to since last summer.
